Baby in a Corner in Carla's Koi Pond and Giveaway

Yes, I realize that the title is
a little more than odd.
I would be wondering what
it meant myself, but today is
day 3 of

30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days
and you will find out the
meaning soon enough.
So, Welcome!

This hop is
hosted by Carla of

I let Carla pick my block
and she chose for me,
Baby in a Corner.

Well, if I would have been
smart, I would have
had some genius way of putting
Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey
on my quilt or maybe a watermelon.
(Sorry for the Dirty Dancing reference)
But, I went in a totally different direction.

The Baby in a Corner is simple
block that can make fun results.

I have had a thought in my head for
quite some time and after playing with the blocks,
they fit perfectly into the design.

After placing them in various different directions,
they reminded me of seaweed
and with a little applique of fish.
It turned into,
"Carla's Koi Pond"

It just sounded completely appropriate
and had a nice ring to it.
(And I don't even know if she likes fish)

It is completed using
Thermoweb's
for the applique
and Aurifil thread for piecing
and stitching down the fish.
The fabrics are completely from
my stash and is a variety of prints
and designers.

My sewing machine was busted
and would let me Free Motion quilt,
so with a little hesitation I sent this off
to a longarm quilter in Utah.

She did an absolutely beautiful job
and I could not have been happier.

I love all the details that she
added to it.
Bubbles,
Scales,
and all!!
So, a big thank you to Jeanette Parker.
